Mister Andersen

I had the good fortune to meet Mr. Soren Andersen in person today. I was referred to him by cam guru Dimitri Elgin and local Porsche mechanic Steve de Jung of de Jung Motorsport. I was looking for a machine shop specializing in air cooled Porsches, and had all but packed my case to send to Ollies, when I learned about Soren.

Using new(er) Porsche to haul around parts of very old Porsche. I bet there’s a German word for this. Wish I knew what it was.

As I had hoped, his shop was very Porsche centric. Lots of air cooled parts there. He was extremely knowledgeable, and patient with my questions. He was happy to offer his suggestions based on many years experience, but did not push me to go one way or the other.

I left the crank case, heads, push rods, and rockers in his capable hands to assess for usability and suggested work. By the end of the day, he had already pulled the heads apart and put the case and heads in his spray washer.

Now we get serious. The machines are involved… Easy to take metal away. Much harder to do it correctly, or put said metal back.

P.S. I always hear Agent Smith’s voice in my head when I say “hello Mister Andersen”.
