Preparation

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup oleo
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 1/4 cups white flour
  • 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp cocoa
  • 3/4 Large bottle red food coloring

Frosting Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 6 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup oleo
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 Large bottle red food coloring

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cream oleo and sugar. Add eggs.
  3. Separately, mix cocoa and 3/4 bottle of red food coloring. Add to creamed mixture.
  4. Add milk, flour, salt. Add Vanilla. Add soda and vinegar last.
  5. Pour in two round cake pans.
  6. Bake 30 minutes. Let cool.

Frosting Directions

  1. Microwave until thick milk and flour.
  2. Cream in oleo and sugar. Microwave until thick.
  3. Use electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
  4. Refrigerate to cool, then spread between layers of on top of cooled cake.
